The East Side Institute is an international nonprofit which for nearly three decades has functioned as an independent research, training and organizing center at the forefront of new approaches to human development, learning, therapeutics and community building.
Since the mid-1980s, the Institute has evolved a social-cultural approach to human development that relates to people of all ages as performers and creators of their lives. Our approach – social therapy – is at once a group-oriented, development-focused psychotherapy and a methodology with broad application in educational, cultural, health and community settings. Social therapy is practiced at seven social therapy centers in the US.
Over the last three decades, the Institute has introduced cutting-edge approaches to human development and learning to tens of thousands of people in the U.S. and throughout the world.
